Learning Junction

What if all learning was fast, enjoyable and easy?

This is what we call ‘accelerated learning’. Our five-stage process below is based on:

All sound a bit complicated so far? Relax it is a whole lot easier than it first seems.

1) Get motivated.

The first step sounds obvious but can be quite a challenge. Do you have a clear idea what you want to learn and why? What exactly will learning about the feeding habits of orangutans give you? How will you (and maybe even the orangutans) benefit? How do you keep motivated when things don’t go to plan? For some practical tips on this click here .

2) Get into a state.

Not just any old state, but one that is great for learning. You know what suits you best. Perhaps it is a mixture of being relaxed, focused, curious and a bit playful? Either way, if you have got step 1 sorted step 2 should come pretty easily. If not then there are some simple things you can do to get into the right state.

3) Get stylish.

It may be no surprise that we all learn differently. Our learning style is as unique as our fingerprint, and also like our fingerprint is not something we think about that often. Understanding how you like to take in and make sense of information and then adapting the way you learn to suit this will pay big dividends. To identify your preferred learning style click here.

4) Get creative.

To lock things into your memory they need to make sense and link to what is already there. Sometimes those links are obvious, other times you might need to look a bit harder. Either way the more active you can be in this the more you will benefit.

5) Get it into your head.

There is no substitute for review and repetition, but how you go about this will significantly influence how well your learning sticks.

That’s it. It really is that simple. So what next?
