Memory Masters

Every year hundreds of memory masters congregate somewhere in the world to pit their wits against one another in such events as ‘hour cards’ – remembering the sequence of as many shuffled decks of cards as possible in 1 hour; ‘binary numbers’ – remembering as long a string of random 1s and 0s as possible in 15 minutes; and ‘speed cards’ - remembering the sequence of a single pack of shuffled playing cards in the shortest possible time. In this competitive cauldron they all have but one aim – to be crowned Grand Master of Memory and enter the Memory hall of Fame. These are the Olympic athletes of memory!

Unlike Olympic athletes, who have these great bodies and huge lungs, these memory masters have a brain with the same number of neurons as everyone else. What separates these people from you and I is simple - technique and practice.

Now, you might not want to become a memory master (frankly you have more important things in life than remembering playing cards) but the techniques they use are easy to learn and will help you remember everything from peoples’ names to shopping lists, formulas for exams to sequences of historical events.
